What information will I get from a Final Search?

Final search statements list the current status and location (within the Land Registry) of any unregistered dealings affecting a title.


What information will I get from an Issue Search?

For titles, plans and instruments, the Issue Search identifies the last issue date of a duplicate document and the party to whom it was issued.


What information will I get from a Prelodgement Search?

For titles a Prelodgement Check indicates whether existing documents that affect a dealing have been provided to Land Registry by other controlling parties. This check should be conducted prior to lodging a new transaction at the Registry.


What information will I get from a Dealing Search?

A Dealing Search enables you to determine the progress (status) of a dealing within the Titles Office. It will show the status, location, processing state, controlling party details and relevant dates for a nominated dealing number.


What information will I get from a Historical Search?

A Historical Search returns a statement displaying the following information, where applicable:

  • Folio Creation Details
  • Record of Victorian Online Title System (VOTS) Dealings
  • Image of paper title
  • Record of Automated Land Title System (ALTS) Dealings
  • VOTS Snapshot

Significant information such as previous land descriptions and proprietorship details may also be recorded on the Historical Search Statement.


What is the difference between ALTS and VOTS?

The process of automating all titles began in 1989 using the ALTS, with the most recent information on each paper title being captured and transferred to the new system. From this point on, the paper titles were not updated but rather the ALTS was updated, this continued until 2001. ALTS was decommissioned and replaced with VOTS, all activities since December 2001 have been updated in VOTS.


What is a VOTS Snapshot?

The VOTS Snapshot was created prior to the first VOTS update, or on creation of a new folio in VOTS. This snapshot provides an overview of the folio state at this point in time including details of land description, registered proprietor/s, encumbrances, caveats, notices and diagram location details. Please note that this is historical information and a Title Search will need to be completed in order to retrieve the most current information.


Is it possible to retrieve historical details prior to 1989?

For titles created prior to 1989, a complete historical search can be obtained by clicking on the hyperlink at the end of the Historical Search Statement to obtain a copy of the imaged paper title.


How will I receive my Title Tracking Services results?

All results are returned in PDF format and can be easily saved, emailed or printed from your desktop. Results will be returned online immediately.

All results are also stored in the Confirm Inbox for up to 30 days where they can be retrieved again, printed or saved at no extra cost. See the Inbox FAQ for more information.

TIP: You can also request that an additional copy of your results be emailed to you. Simply tick the select box marked "Yes I would like an additional copy of my results emailed to ..." on the input screen at the time of requesting your search. The email address input box will be automatically populated with the default email address from your account's profile. If you would like to alter this email address for your order, simply type a new email address in the box.
