What information will I get from a Historical Title Search?

A Historical Title will provide current information as well as a list of any dealings registered since the title was transferred to the ATS (Automated Title System). Any significant information for that period such as previous owners or land descriptions will be displayed.

What are Related Searches?

The QLD Lands Historical Title Result Summary page will display a list of Other Related Searches that are available. A separate fee will apply to each item selected. Select the items to order and click $Search$. The Other Related Searches Result screen will display. Click on the Completed links to view the search results.

How will I receive my search results?

Results will be immediately available via the result screen. Simply click the 'COMPLETED' link to view results in PDF format. Results will also be stored in the Confirm Inbox for up to 30 business days where they can be retrieved again, printed or saved at no extra cost.

To receive the results by email, tick the "Yes, I would like an additional copy of my results emailed to:" checkbox on the search input screen and enter an email address in the field provided. How does this information differ from an Imaged or Automated Title?

In 1994 the Land Titles Act established the ATS. The process of imaging all Queensland titles began, with the most recent information for each title being captured and transferred to the new system. From this point on, the images have not been updated. Therefore, an Imaged Title is a 'snapshot' of the title as it was in 1994/1995. The ATS is updated as required. An Automated Title is an extract from the ATS showing the current information for a title at the time of your request. Clearly, an imaged title and its automated version will become increasingly different over time. A Historical Title lists the modifications to the title so that these changes can be easily tracked.

How can I tell when a title was first created?

The title reference gives an indication of when the title was created.

  • Title reference numbers beginning with 1, 2 or 3 are sometimes referred to as Paper Titles. They were created prior to 1994. All Paper Titles have now been imaged
  • Title reference numbers beginning with a 5 (or higher) have been created since 1994. They are called Computer Titles because they were immediately entered into the ATS and have never been 'paper'. Computer Titles are not imaged.

How do I order historical details for titles created since 1994?

A historical title will show all the changes for a title since it was entered on the ATS(1994) to the present. Titles created since 1994 were entered straight on to the ATS, so every change since the title's creation will be recorded on the historical title.

How do I order historical details for titles created prior to 1994?

Historical information prior to 1994 is included on the imaged title. For titles created prior to 1994, a complete historical record can be obtained by ordering a copy of the imaged title and a copy of the historical title. Imaged titles can be ordered by selecting Title under Order Images on the QLD Lands menu.
