How do I change the font size?

Is the font size too large or too small? Did you know that you can zoom in and out of any webpage on any site in your browser?

You can make Web pages easier to read by magnifying the page (zooming in/making things bigger). If you zoom in, everything on the Web page will be magnified (including text, images, and controls). Zooming out is the opposite and makes everything on the Web page smaller.

Firefox 3+

Choose one of the three methods below to zoom in and out:

Mouse

On the Firefox menu bar:

  1. Click the View menu.
  2. Click Zoom.
  3. In the Zoom menu:
    • To make the page bigger, click Zoom In.
    • To make the page smaller, click Zoom Out.
    • To make the page go back to normal, click Reset.

Mouse with a scroll wheel

If your mouse has a scroll wheel, press and hold Ctrl while scrolling the wheel up to zoom in (bigger) and down to zoom out (smaller).

Keyboard

  • To zoom in (make everything bigger), press and hold Ctrl while pressing + (plus sign).
  • To zoom out (make everything smaller), press and hold Ctrl while pressing - (minus sign).
  • To reset the page back to normal, press and hold Ctrl while pressing 0 (zero).

Internet Explorer 7 and 8

Choose one of the three methods below to zoom in and out:

Mouse

  • Click the Magnifying glass icon at the bottom right corner of the Internet Explorer window to zoom in. You may also select the arrow to the right of the icon to open a list of specific zoom levels.

Mouse with a scroll wheel

  • If your mouse has a scroll wheel, press and hold Ctrl while scrolling the wheel up to zoom in (bigger) and down to zoom out (smaller).

Keyboard

  • To zoom in (make everything bigger), press and hold Ctrl while pressing + (plus sign).
  • To zoom out (make everything smaller), press and hold Ctrl while pressing - (minus sign).
  • To reset the page back to normal, press and hold Ctrl while pressing 0 (zero).

Internet Explorer 6

Internet Explorer 6 does not have the capability to zoom in or zoom out, but by using the View menu, you can quickly change the size of text.

Choose either of the two methods below to increase or decrease text sizes:

Mouse

On the Internet Explorer menu bar:

  1. Click on the View menu.
  2. Click on Text Size.
  3. Select the text size that best meets your needs from the Text size list.

Keyboard

On the Internet Explorer menu bar:

  1. Open the View menu by pressing Alt + V on your keyboard.
  2. Select Text Size by pressing x on your keyboard.
  3. In the Text Size list, move to the text size option that best meets your needs by pressing the up arrow or down arrow key.
  4. Press Enter.
