National Electronic Conveyancing System in the spotlight

24 November 2005

CITEC Confirm Sales Representative, Adrian Rose, has been elected as the President of a new association, the Information Brokers and Law Stationers Association Inc.

This industry association, which is a first in Australia, has been formed to represent the interests of all information brokers and law agents in the establishment and forthcoming development of a National Electronic Conveyancing System (NECS).

NECS will provide a convenient electronic means for legal practitioners, conveyancers, banks and independent mortgage processors to:

  • prepare dealings and related instruments to register changes in ownership and interests;
  • settle financial transactions, including payment of duties, taxes and any disbursements;
  • lodge their dealings with the appropriate Land Registry, and;
  • receive confirmation of dealing lodgment and registration.

Adrian said the Association would be providing a representative to sit on the national steering committee for the NECS project, along with representatives of many other government agencies and financial institutions.

“Our aim is to ensure that all information brokers and law stationers can have input to the development of a national electronic conveyancing system, which ultimately benefits all parties,” Adrian said.

“The end result will be a more efficient industry, able to offer better, faster and more economical services to property buyers and sellers across Australia.”
